Join Metro this Saturday as they celebrate the opening of phase 1 of the long-awaited Metro Expo Line! It has been a long 6 years since construction started, but if the ten new stations (3 of which are aerial) and 5.9 miles of new bike lanes are as nice as they sound then the wait will have been worth it. The grand opening event will feature music, entertainment and family fun at four stations along the current line, which extends from DTLA to La Cienega. And–bonus–you can ride the entire line between Downtown LA and the Westside for free!
Where: 7th St/Metro Center Station – 7th Street between Figueroa and Hope (660 S. Figueroa St.)
When: 4/28/2012 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Entertainment at the DTLA station on 7th will include Double Gee NineNet, a Latino jazz band presented by Make Music L.A., as well as other bands and performers. Various booths will showcase everything from the L.A. Kings and the Colburn School of Music to Coca-Cola, the Downtown Center Business Improvement District and a Snap Yourself! photobooth. See you there!
